7 Common Job-Seeker Mistakes

Are you making these common job-seeker mistakes?

1. Mass applying, including the jobs you are not interested in.

The problem is that it's impossible to customize your CV for each position or keep in mind the vacancies and companies you`ve applied. Both lead to significantly fewer job interview invitations.

2. Not connecting with the recruiter when applying.

A short message with why you are an excellent fit for the role significantly increases your chance of getting invited for the interview.

3. Not realizing the importance of the phone interview.

Talking while driving, in the office, shopping, or babysitting. Always make sure you are able to have 100% focus when in a phone interview.

4. Not researching the company before the interview.

To recruiters, you come across as not interested enough and motivated.

5. Going to a job interview unprepared.

Sure, you might have natural charisma, but charisma + being prepared doubles your chances to get the job.

6. Not asking any questions to the recruiter.

Recruiters see it as a red flag.

7. Not following up after the job interview.

I wish all recruiters were proactive and updated you about the status of the recruitment soon after your meeting. But mostly it is not the case. Follow up to show your interest and make sure you are in their mind.

Avoid these mistakes and celebrate landing your new job!🙌
